(Although they may cheat by avoiding saying impossible...). I've long wondered why it would be hard to just attach something on the fiber itself that could watch the light pulses without interrupting the connection. Maybe it's harder than I think and takes better equipment than we had in the past. :) Of note, I like how you've put your own one-liner after each link. I got confused the first few days of this format thinking those paragraphs below the links were your thoughts instead of the quotes they are.
