Interesting...Let's see, someone young enough to be credibly "technology aware", heroic in on-screen reputation to be credibly "altruistic", and socially responsible in reality.

Hero character actors aren't too hard to find... I was wondering about Patrick Stewart (although not recently a teenager, could be credibly "techy" from Start Trek NG or X-Men), or Keanu Reeves from his work in The Matrix.

Or what about Toby Maguire from Spiderman?

Just some ideas. Of course they would need to be grilled for several weeks by a committee to make sure they never did anything that would be seen as a flaw on their reputation. In a cursory search Keanu has a blemish on www.thesmokinggun.com, but Toby didn't come up with anything.

OK, Andrew. Are you going to come up with a short list, and make some calls???

LV - I agree...which is why I didn't post that little black mark from his resume in the list :)

I think his performance in Get Shorty and Be Cool more than make up for that little blip.

JC - I originally thought of Wil Wheaton but I don't think he has the appeal needed to drive people to live securely. I know he's a huge tech advocate but I'm not sure he's the face we need.

I am sure Microsoft is going to offer up Tom Skerrit as their Hollywood answer. If we are looking for cool, how about Christian Slater or Crispin Glover for their sheer power of disconnected cool. My vote would have to go for Wil Wheaton for his ability to relate subject matter well to the everyman as well as his ability to talk geek to the geek.
